Tour Itinerary: 5 Days Marrakech Desert Tour

Day 1 : Marrakech - Tizi n'Tichka - Taourirt Kasbah - Ouarzazate - Dades Valley {330 km} 7 Hours

After breakfast, our local driver will pick up you from your hotel/riad in Marrakech at 8:30 a.m and your 5 Days Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour get started direction to Dades valley, through the Tizi- N-Tichka pass at 2260 m high above the sea level in the High Atlas mountains.

We will enjoy the scenic road in mountains, we will admire beautiful landscapes with different colors, we pass so many authentic Berber villages along the way to Ouarzazate to visit Taourirt Kasbah one of the most spectacular ksars in Morocco and Oscar film studios then we will have lunch here.

The next site to visit is the Rose Valley going through the big Skoura palm grove a wonderful place to contemplate scenery and numerous kasbahs that are built in the surrounding area. In this Valley damascenes, roses are raised for cosmetic use such as the valued rosewater.

The Rose Festival is held here annually in May, it is an important museum for Moroccan culture we continue to Dades Valley where we’ll spend the night at the hotel overlooking the valley.

Day 2 : Dades Gorges - Boumlane - Tinghir - Merzouga {270 km} 4 Hours

After breakfast at hotel our 5 days Marrakech desert tours depart to Todra Gorge the berber villages are scattered along the way pass through Tinghir we’ll stop to admire the beautiful Todra valley full of palm trees before we arrive to Todra Gorges that are currently one of the most popular rock climbing destinations in Morocco.

Here we will have a short walk through its grey and pink high canyons that can reach 300 m after that we’ll head to Tinjdad and Touroug where we’ll have lunch then to Erfoud which will feel the beginning Saharan oasis of Tafilalet afterwards we will continue our way to Merzouga and majestic Erg Chebbi dunes.

From here you will take camel ride about one hour and half in order to get to your Nomadic berber tents during the trek you will take a break in the middle of the dunes to watch the sunset, try the sandboarding if that’s an activity you’re interested in, take photos and enjoy the scenery…

After the sun goes down you will continue to the camp where you will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea, dinner, camp fire , music party , and overnight stay at Berber camp Merzouga.

Day 3 : 4x4 tour around Erg Chebbi - Merzouga {50 km} 3 Hours

After breakfast at your hotel we’ll start our Merzouga excursion to explore different and interesting sites around Erg Chebbi dunes we’ll visit Hassi Labied oasis to see its irrigation canal and land agriculture.

We’ll head south to the seasonal Sriji lake ( if there’s water in it) we’ll continue to Khamlia village if you are interested to listen to the Gnawa music of the dark skin people who were brought to Morocco as immigration over hundred years ago and they were working as slaves…

Afterwards we’ll continue to M’ifis mines besides, the tourism Merzouga desert it is also famous of minerals and fossils during our Merzouga 4×4 desert tour we’ll have the opportunity to visit a nomad Berber family who is still living in their tent in the middle of the Sahara we’ll have a glass of mint tea with them and learn about life in the desert…

We’ll make stops at different panoramic views to enjoy the scenery and take pictures of the sights…after lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll come back to the village. Free afternoon, dinner, and overnight at hotel/riad in Merzouga. 

Day 4 : Merzouga - Nkoub - Draa Valley - Agdez - Ouarzazate {370 km} 5 Hours

The next day, after a healthy breakfast at the hotel you will meet your driver then you’ll travel to Ouarzazate driving through Rissani to visit its Weekly traditional market if we are lucky to be here in one of the days of the market ( Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday ).

Afterward we’ll drive through an arid pre-desertic area where we´ll see acacia typical trees of this landscape. On the way to the Draa valley, we´ll make some stops to admire the beautiful views of the river that gives name to the valley. It’s the longest river in Morocco. Our 5 days Marrakech desert tour continues towards Ouarzazate crossing the Anti Atlas.

We´ll have some free time for lunch in the city and in the afternoon we continue our journey to Ouarzazate arrival in the late afternoon/evening, dinner, and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5 : Ouarzazate - Ait ben Haddou kasbah - Marrakech {200 km} 3:30 Hours

After breakfast in your hotel in Ouarzazate, we will drive to visit the ksar (fortified village) of Ait ben Haddou the famous Kasbah declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 numerous films have been shot in this spectacular place including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, Sahara with Penélope Cruz…

Before traveling through Tizi n’Tichka making stops on the way to enjoy the superb views of these mountains and authentic Berber villages, lunch at a restaurant in the middle of the Atlas. then we will continue to Marrakech arrival in the afternoon and end our 5 days Marrakech desert tour.
