Our amazing Fes day trip to the Middle Atlas mountains will take us to the little pretty town of Azrou through Imouzzer Kandar with stops to admire the splendid scenery of the Middle Atlas mountains and endless panoramic views of the farms and green hills. Azrou which is “Azru” in Berber dialect means “stone” or “rock” with a population of 81,350 and located 70 kilometers south of Fez in Ifrane Province.  Azrou nestled at about 1200 m above sea level in the heart of the Middle Atlas mountains surrounded by Oaks and Cedars which give it an incredible charm.
 
Cedar forest 
 
The cedar Gauroud forest is a woodland zone in Morocco Middle Atlas mountains range, it was named because of the French general Henri Gouraud who discovered the first tree (Gauroud Tree), and then the tree spread and becomes a forest. The cedar forest considered a unique place where the monkeys live in their natural habits in Morocco so during your Fes, to Middle atlas mountains you will have the opportunity to make new friends ” Barbarian Apes” take pictures with them and why not feed them with peanuts and give them the water.

We will continue our day trip from Fes to the charming city of Ifrane or the little Moroccan Switzerland as Moroccans love to call it because of its alpine-style architecture and it is characterized by its European urbanism.
