Tour Itinerary: 7 days Marrakech desert tour

Day 1 : Arrival in Marrakech

At the beginning of your amazing 7 days Marrakech desert tour, one of our local drivers will pick up you from Menara airport in Marrakech and transfer you to your hotel/riad.

Day 2: Marrakech - Tizi n' Tichka - Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate - Dades Valley {330 km} 7 Hours

After a healthy breakfast, you will be picked up by your driver from your hotel at 8:30 a.m and start our Marrakech desert tour traveling over Tizi n’Tichka pass ( 2260 m ) while enjoying magnificent views of the Atlas mountains and authentic small Berber villages on the way with stops to take photos.

Then continue to Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou (fortified village) the famous Kasbah declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 numerous films have been shot in this spectacular place including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, Sahara with Penélope Cruz… Free time to have lunch at a restaurant.

Our Morocco desert tour continues to Ouarzazate where we will see Oscar Atlas film studio that considered the biggest film studio in Morocco and Taourirt kasbah another heritage site.

Afterward, we will pass through the magnificent palm grove of Skoura, Rose valley known for its yearly rose festival and cosmetic products in the month of May going through the valley of thousand kasbahs you will see so many old centuries adobe kasbahs arrival to Dades Valley in the afternoon, dinner and overnight stay at hotel/riad overlooking the valley.

Day 3 : Dades Valley - Todra Gorges - Erfoud - Merzouga desert and camel trekking {270 km} 4 Hours

After having your breakfast at the hotel in Dades Valley our Morocco desert trip continues direction to Todra Gorge the Berber villages are scattered along the way pass-through Tinghir we’ll stop to admire the beautiful Todra valley full of palm trees before we arrive at Todra Gorge is currently one of the most popular rock climbing destinations in Morocco here we will have a short walk through its grey and pink high canyons that can reach 300 m enjoy its unique scenery and take the pictures…

After that, we’ll head to Tinjdad and Touroug where we’ll have free time for lunch at one of the local restaurants than to Erfoud which will feel like the beginning Saharan oasis of Tafilalet.

Afterward we will continue our way to Merzouga and majestic Erg Chebbi dunes from here you will take a camel ride about one hour and a half in order to reach your Nomadic Berber camp during the trek you will take a break in the middle of the dunes to watch the sunset, try the sandboarding if that’s an activity you’re interested in, take photos and enjoy the scenery.

After the sun goes down you will continue to the camp where you will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea, dinner, campfire, music party, and overnight stay at Merzouga desert camp.  

Day 4 : Merzouga sightseeing and 4x4 tour around Erg Chebbi dunes {50 km} 3 Hours

Today, we recommend you get up early morning to contemplate a beautiful sunrise near the camp, and after these unforgettable moments you will have breakfast and take shower at the camp then, you will ride your camels back to the original started location or transfer by 4WD as an alternative to camels.

You will meet your driver and start our 4×4 excursion around Merzouga to explore different and interesting sites around Erg Chebbi dunes we’ll visit Hassi Labied oasis to see its old irrigation canal system and land agriculture, we’ll head south to the seasonal Srij lake ( if there’s water in it) we’ll continue to Khamlia village if you are interested to listen to the Gnawa music of the dark skin people who were brought to Morocco as immigration over hundred years ago and they were working as slaves…

Afterward, we’ll continue to M’ifis mines beside the tourism Merzouga desert it is also famous for minerals and fossils during our Merzouga desert tour we’ll have the opportunity to visit a nomad Berber family who is still living in their tent in the middle of the Sahara, we’ll have a glass of mint tea with them and learn about life in the desert…we’ll make stops at different panoramic views to enjoy scenery and take pictures of the sights…after lunch at a local restaurant we’ll come back to the village, dinner, and overnight stay at a hotel overlooking the dunes.

Day 5 : Merzouga – Rissani - Nkoub - Draa Valley - Agdez - Ouarzazate {370 km} 5 Hours

The next day, after healthy breakfast at the hotel you will meet your driver then you’ll travel to Ouarzazate driving through Rissani to visit its Weekly traditional market if we are lucky to be here on one of the days of the market ( Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday ) afterward we’ll drive through the arid pre-desertic area where we´ll see acacia typical trees of this landscapes.

On the way to the Draa valley, we´ll make some stops to admire the beautiful views of the river that gives a name to the valley. It’s the longest river in Morocco. Our Marrakech 7 day desert trip continues towards Ouarzazate crossing the Anti Atlas. We´ll have some free time for lunch and in the afternoon we continue our journey to Ouarzazate arrive in the late afternoon/evening, dinner, and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6 : Ouarzazate – Half day Sightseeing tour of Marrakech {200 km} 4 Hours

After a delicious breakfast at your hotel in Ouarzazate, we will travel through the High Atlas mountains again back to Marrakech with stops for panoramic views, take pictures and stretch your legs…

Arrival in Marrakech around midday and start our sightseeing tour with a local guide to explore the main attractions of the red city of Morocco (Marrakech) including the Koutoubia minaret, Saadian tombs, Bahia palace, Medersa ben Youssef, Majorelle garden, and Jemaa el-fnaa the famous square of Marrakech… After your Marrakech guided tour ends we will drop you off at your hotel.

Day 7 : Transfer to Marrakech airport

Today, you have free time to just relax, walk around by yourself or do whatever you want until the perfect time for your flight, and we will come to pick you up from your hotel/riad to Marrakech airport. By then, the 7 days Marrakech desert tour services ends.
